Investigating the effect of nursing counseling on health anxiety and its relationship with trust in nursing services in outpatients of health services

Introduction: Demand for outpatient services is increasing. Patients experience anxiety related to their health, which has destructive effects on the treatment, and its control creates confidence in health services. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of the consultant nurse plan on health anxiety and its relationship with confidence in in outpatient department. Methods: This is a quantitative-quantitative mixed method study (semi-experimental-analytical). 60 qualified samples from the outpatient department were selected and placed in two intervention and control groups randomly. Data collection tools were demographic information, Salkoskis health anxiety, confidence in Radvin nursing services questionnaires. The samples answered demographic and health anxiety questionnaires. After the visit, the intervention group received nursing consultation and control group the doctor's routine training. A week later, the samples answered the health anxiety and the confidence in nursing services again questionnaires. Data analysis was done with descriptive and analytical statistical tests in SPSS20 software Results: The mean of health anxiety before the consulting was not significantly different in the two groups (P=0.20), after that, in the intervention group it was lower than the control group (P=0.00). There was a significant difference between this mean before and after consulting in the intervention group (P=0.00). There was a significant positive relationship between receiving counseling with confidence in nursing services (P=0.000) (p= -0.145). Conclusion: Providing nursing consult reduces patients' health anxiety and increases confidence in nursing services. It is suggested to pay attention to this role of nurses in the outpatient department.
